This illustration depicts a cross-section of a T cell illustrating how transient membrane protrusions capture amino acids to drive growth. After being transported from outside of the cell through particular intracellular compartments, the amino acids are delivered to a large protein complex that regulates cellular growth. Once there, they initiate a molecular communication cascade within the cell that activates pro-growth genes.
